How can you help out? Volunteer! 

One of the reasons Zilker is such a great school is its active parent community. We need volunteers to help give our kids the best possible education. Please consider helping out at least a couple times each year. It’s one of the best ways to demonstrate to your kid the value you put on their education.

Throughout the year, we post volunteer opportunities for your classroom and special events on LivingTree, the free app that is our primary vehicle of communication here at Zilker.  However, we are also constantly looking for help in the following areas, so please reach out:

Standing Committees

Arts in Education

We are committee of parents and teachers dedicated to bringing quality art and art-related programs to all Zilker Elementary students. Contact Vera Muniz –

Sustainability, Health and Wellness

Our mission is to serve as a resource and advocate for sustainability through educating students, staff, and community members by: promoting environmental responsibility and healthy living with the school community; encouraging practices with sustainable living; challenging students, staff, and the community to consider their ecological impact and ways to have a positive impact on the environment and healthy living. Contact Corina Guillory –

Special Committees

Spring Fling

Our goal is to raise funds for Zilker Elementary by putting on a successful adults-only party with dancing, music, food and a silent auction on the last Friday of April. Contact Rachel Elder –


Our committee puts on a fun, fall festival. We organize classroom parents to sponsor a different booths and bring in outside vendors for food and entertainment. Our goal is to create a wonderful community event. Contact:

Teacher Appreciation

This group helps Teacher Appreciation chair to make our teachers, staff and administration feel appreciated and connected through hospitality and special messages throughout the year including, but not limited to back to school breakfasts and lunch, all-school potlucks, holiday luncheons, thanksgiving and valentine reminders, and end of year teacher appreciation efforts. Jabo’s Garden

Working directly with Odd Duck restaurant, this committee works together to ensure the garden is utilized and maintained by both school and outside entities to provide opportunities for students to receive a hands-on education through gardening. Contact Dita-

Zilker Fund

The Zilker Fund supports the school through a direct mail, no hassle approach to fundraising.  Utilizing communications and other avenues, the Zilker Fund provides funding for programs and areas of need. Contact Rachel Elder –

March for Peace

The March for Peach and Fund Run serve two purposes. To promote diversity, acceptance, kindness on our campus. To promote healthy lifestyles and fundraising. Contact Vera –
