The Austin High School String Camp is a fun event for 4th and 5th graders! Students will spend the day learning the basics of how to play a string instrument. No previous experience necessary!

Registration begins at 9:00 am

Mini-Concert at 1:30 pm

AISD Innovation Summit‏; Mark your Calendars!

All AISD parents, students, and teachers are invited to attend the second AISD Innovation Summit on Saturday, February 20th from 9am-2pm.  Over 50 teachers and students will be presenting some of the technology they are using this year in the classroom.

Out-of-District Transfer News from Interim Director of Student Services

Effective immediately, to support our enrollment efforts, any student who withdraws because the family has moved out of the district can apply for and receive an out of district transfer to continue at that school through its highest grade.  This includes a family who moves during the school year or during the summer.

Parents/guardians can find the transfer form online (https://www.austinisd.org/transfer) or in our office (CAC, A200).  We would need proof of the new address and a picture ID.

We will add a line to the withdrawal paperwork in TEAMS informing parents of this option.

Please explain this option to all families who move out of AISD.  If you need to pursue a revocation, please do so using the transfer revocation process in collaboration with your Associate Superintendent.  That would be a separate process.

Austin High Orchestra fundraiser: Parking for Trail of Lights

Please consider supporting the Austin High Orchestra during the remaining days of Trail of Lights and at the same time finding convenient parking!

For only $10, park at Austin High School, which is within easy walking distance to the Trail of Lights. Parking is available beginning at 6pm each of the evenings of December 14-19 (Monday through Saturday) and again on December 21 and 22 (Monday and Tuesday). (The AHS parking lots are unavailable for outside parking on Sundays.)

The Trail of Lights opens each evening at 7pm.

Monster Concert & Carnival

The Stephen F. Austin High School Monster Concert is on Friday, October 30th from 4:30 to 9pm in the east parking lot. The event includes games, food, live music by local bands, a haunted house, and music performances by Austin High Vertical Team Orchestras.

Austin High Principal Support Team

Zilker is looking for a volunteer to join the Austin High Principal Support Team.  The goal of the team is to strengthen the ties and build community between the Austin High vertical team schools.  If your child(ren)are on track to attend AHS, please consider attending these valuable meetings.   The meetings are held once a month at 9:30am at Austin High.

Austin High School CAC seeks new parent members

The Austin High School CAC (Campus Advisory Council) invites interested Austin High parents to apply for a 2-year term, May 2015-April 2017 by submitting a CAC membership application by Friday, March 27 to Renee Fairchild, Assistant to Principal Sandy Compian (cfairchi@austinisd.org).

The Austin High CAC is an important campus committee made up of Austin High school teachers, support staff, parents, and community members who meet with Principal Compian on the first Monday of each month from 5:30pm-7:00pm to discuss school-related issues and provide input on campus-level decisions, particularly those which address student needs and achievement. Our goal is to have parental participation representing Austin High students who graduated from a broad range of our feeder schools, including: Small, Martin, Barton Hills, Bryker Woods, Mathews, Zilker, Patton, Oak Hill, Pease, Casis, and O.Henry, as well as Fulmore, Kealing, private, and others. Austin High Maroon Grand Slam Tennis Camp

The Austin High Tennis Team is hosting its annual day camp for students grades K-5 on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 1PM-4PM. This is a school holiday for students. Please consider having your student join us. This is a great opportunity to try tennis or to get some instruction from the Austin High Tennis Team. This camp is our team’s main fundraiser, so we appreciate your support!!

Mark your calendars for the 27th Annual Monster Concert and Carnival hosted by Ana-Marie Solis and the Austin High Orchestra!

Date: Saturday, October 25, 2014

Time: 3:00 PM – 8:30 PM.

Place: Austin High School Campus, (1715 Cesar Chavez St.)

There will be a free costume contest at 5:00 PM, so come dressed in your favorite costume and join in on the fun. The costume contest is for every one of All ages. Tell all of your friends to dress up and come join in on the fun of the free costume contest.

There will be free Orchestra performances by the following orchestras: Martin Middle School, Austin High School, O. Henry Middle School, Clint Small Middle School, Barton Hills Elementary School, Bryker Woods Elementary School, Mathews Elementary School and Pease Elementary School.

Also, there will be lots of food, games, live music and a Haunted House. Tickets will be sold at the event for $1.00 each.

If you would like to purchase tickets in advance for food and carnival games, the Ticket Value Packs are now on-sale. For purchasing in advance, you get two free tickets. The deadline to get your tickets in advance is Friday, October 17th.

If you are interested in Renting a Booth for this event to promote your club or business, fill out the Booth Sign-Up Form and turn it in by Friday, October 17th @5:00 PM. Please, No Food or Drink may be sold at the booth.

If you have a band or know of someone that has a band and would like to perform on the Live Outdoor music stage, please contact Ms. Solis, the Austin High Orchestra director for a time slot at ana.solisherrera@austinisd.org.
