A ZFiesta Community Thank You!

We are so thankful for the huge Zilker community turn out for ZFiesta!  It really made for a special evening!  We also want to thank our Zilker neighboring businesses who helped make our event possible.  Remedy Urgent Care handed out travel size hand sanitizer, Mr. Natural offered delicious agua frescas, Sazon served yummy food and Flavorlicious provided the sugar high with shaved ice.  The wonderful entertainment came from Go Dance- Westgate location, St. Edward’s Ballet Folkloric and, of course, Ms. Hallmark and Ms. Irizarry with bilingual story time.  Thank you to Zilker’s amazing administration and staff for graciously helping with set up and clean up too!  We are already looking forward to next year!

Get To Know Our Futura Teacher!

Alissa Deitz is the substitute for Lisi Garcia, who is on maternity leave this semester. Alissa is teaching Spanish each week in all pre-K through 2nd grade classes. Alissa has a son in pre-K and has lived in the Zilker and Barton Hills neighborhoods since 2009. She is a certified bilingual teacher having taught 1st grade at Sanchez Elementary School in East Austin. She also taught an after school Spanish class through Futura Language Professionals at Valley View Elementary School in Westlake. She tells us that by the time the students are in second grade, their knowledge of Spanish is very impressive and that all of the grades love learning this increasingly necessary language.

Take the Spanish Survey! PreK-2nd grade

We need your feedback!

Please share with us your thoughts on Zilker’s Spanish Program offered through Futura Language Professionals.  The PTA has provided this class to Zilker’s Pre-K through 2nd graders for the past 5 years.   Zilker’s Spanish Program is designed to expose children to the Spanish language and culture and the benefits to such a program are long term. While the goal is not to teach children how to be fluent, Futura provides a convenient and affordable way to get a jump start on your child’s language education in a fun, age-appropriate manner.

Find out more about the survey and give your opinion online here:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XQKZM97

OR fill out the paper version.  Check your Thursday folder or pick one up in the lobby.  Return them to the office or to your teacher.

The survey will be available until September 18th.
