Dear Zilker Families,
Some of you probably know this already, but one of our special education teachers, Mrs. Nilsa Quintanilla, had to unexpectedly have surgery earlier this week. We were waiting until we had an update for you to share this news with all of our families. We are so glad to be able to report to you that the surgery went well, she is doing fine, and she may even be home by the time you are reading this! Mrs. Quintanilla will most likely have a four- to six-week recuperative period before she is able to return to work here at Zilker.
In the meantime, we have two excellent substitutes scheduled to take on her duties and responsibilities with our students: Mr. Ronald Short and Ms. Meghan Still. Both of these substitute teachers have worked at Zilker recently, and we are confident that they will do a great job until Mrs. Quintanilla is ready to return. Of course, our special education team—Mrs. Jessica Montañez and Mrs. Jody Wynn, specifically—will be available to assist and support these two substitutes while they are here.
Thank you for keeping Mrs. Quintanilla and her family in your thoughts and send all good wishes her way. We will miss her and look forward to her return later this semester.
Randall W. Thomson, Principal
